TRIP AROUND THE WORLD 2003. (USA, Fiji, New Zealand and Japan)

This report is in the first place intended for relatives, friends and acquaintances. Maybe not always interesting for everybody. The pictures of our trip that are photographically more interesting will be shown under RECENT. (To be continued)

39. The campsite at Anaura Bay, south of Gisborne. The previous school building is in use as kitchen and canteen for the site. The only other guests were a young couple from Germany. One of the nicest sites we visited, close to a beautiful beach with big waves. It was definitely the cheapest one: NZ$10.- including electricity hook-up, warm showers etc. (Less than 5 Euro) Diesel is about 30 eurocents a liter, on top of that groceries are a lot cheaper than in Europe, especially fruit. So NZ is ideal for motorcampers.

40. The memorial plaque at Anaura Bay near the campsite. Captain Cook landed in New Zealand first at Gisborne, after that in this bay. One wonders if he really was received as cordial as the plaque suggests.

41. At a campsite at Taupo you could go for a walk in a park with volcanic phenomena.

42. Find-the-face-puzzle. (ph: Keiko)

43. Ranto and Henk in the steam vapour. (ph: Keiko)

44. The New Zealand farmers often use terrain motorbikes and 4WD-motorbikes. And of course dogs to keep their sheep and cows under control. It is an interesting sight to see how well-trained these dogs are.
